On December 1st when my name was not called to win the Topsy Turvy House I was so disappointed. I had already decided that I wanted this house for our recess playground. I just knew the children would love to play in this special house. The name that was called instead of mine was Lee Ann Dennis. Lee Ann decided to give the house to a charity in Wetumpka, but that particular charity was more in need of money for supplies than a playhouse. Garner Electric built the house originally and Cathy Garner realized how special it would be for our children to have. Cathy Garner bought the house back from Lee Ann and decided to donate the house to CES. Lee Ann and Cathy both donated money to the charity in Wetumpka in lieu of the playhouse. The house reminds me of Dr. Suess. We have plans in the works to paint Dr. Suess on the house and landscape around this area. The kindergarten students will use the house at recess, and we will also use it throughout the year for other special events. We have already planned a reading event for each class in the house during Read Across America (Dr. Suess Birthday).We can not thank Lucretia Cauthen Realty,Garner Electric, and all the other businesses that participated in this special project enough for their support of the public schools in Millbrook. I was so pleased to see our community work together to help the schools. The money raised will definitely benefit our students. Thank you Lucretia for this GREAT Idea! Thanks to the businesses who supported the project, and especially thank you to Garner Electric for the donation of the playhouse. I wish you could have seen the children when the playhouse was dropped off. They were very excited and have already had a great time playing in this special house.
